Of course, this is an issue from a pet store bought gecko. Learned my lesson. NEVER buy animals from a pet store.
Moving on.
When I got her from the store her tail looked a little black-ish. I asked what they thought it was, and they said they thought it was just the colouring, and it didn't feel weird so I just trusted them (stupid mistake).
After a couple of weeks, I noticed that some of the black had gone away, leaving me to believe that it probably was not just her colouring. There was a ring of black that felt kind of crispy around the end of her tail, so I concluded it was stuck shed, and was probably at least 2 weeks old.
Having dealt with shed issues in a rescue leopard gecko we had last month (really bad, he had lost almost all his toes *tear*) I knew it had to come off! I've been daily misting her tail extra after I mist the enclosure. The other night I dipped her tail in water and rubbed at her tail very gently (almost rolling it in between my fingers). A huge piece of shed came off pretty easy. I took the following photos the next night.
Now her tail is looking a little better, but there's still a half circle of stuck shed around the underside of her tail. Other than what I've already done and am continuing to do, is there anything else I can do to help her? It's looking much better, but I'd hate her to lose her tail because of something so preventable.
