On Friday I will hopefully be picking up a 55-65 gal hexagon aquarium. I am going to convert it in to my tokay geckos new home. I will be going over to the ladies house to check it out an see if I like it and if so I will be bringing it home. I was going to go with a zoo med or exo terra terrarium but I decided that they didn't give me the height that I wanted so I put a wanted ad on craigslist and the next day I got a reply! I was going to convert my 20 gal long, but I dont have time nor does my husband. So I an going with a hexagon I like the shap, the height and it has a 360 dagree view! I want to put live plant/plants in there but I dont know what to use. I know it has to high humidity. What kind of light will I need? And what would the watt be? 30,40,50?? that is something I have never delt with before so ANY input woule be wonderful!

if you dig through the past 2-3 pages in this subforum, you will find multiple answers to all of those questions (and possibly some you haven't thought of yet).

I would strongly suggest adding under the tank heat as well to help keep that Hex-tank warm. Unlike desert/terrestrial Gecko, Tokay live on the glass as much as the other vertical surfaces that you place in the enclosure like slate and cork bark. Heat from bulbs from above just will not get the entire enclosure up to temp.

And you are working to overcome a 20 degree difference between the average room and the typical Tokay environment.

Do spend some time in the old threads since they do cover this topic several times, and good luck.
