New Gecko Owner - First Shed Questions

I've only had Howie [Approx 1 year old] one week but from what I can tell so far is he's quite mellow, OK with being handled [We've only taken him out to weigh him so far.], and not too skiddish. The last couple of days his colour has grown increasingly dusty and he has become quite skiddish. Thanks to reading this forum, I was anticipating a shed. So I've been paying special attention to keeping the moist hide moist and the humidity up. When I came home tonight, his belly looked fullish and I saw him eating what I though was a paper towel. I then clued in and realized he was just finishing up eating his shed. I gave his habitat a quick mist [not directly on him] and let him be.

Couple of questions:

1) I'm assuming he's not going to be needing any feeding for tonight at least, would that be about right? How soon after a shed should he get back to eating.

2) Do Leo's normally become more skiddish during a shed, or should I be concerned? He was notedly mellow, and quite curious for the first 5/6 days.

My Leo ate a few mealworms right after he shed, however mine is only a juvey. I also noticed when he did shed beforehand he was really skiddish. Normal for mine anyway.

I offered up a silkworm and a butterworm, but he wasn't interested in either. I think I'm just going to leave him be for the night. From what I can see he has no stuck shed, his eyes are clear. I'll give him a better checkover tomorrow before I feed him.

Sounds like you're doing everything right! I always give my Leo a good check after it sheds. Just a Juvey so you have to pay even closer attention.

Some eat right after shedding, and some don't. There's no harm in trying, but if he doesn't, it's nothing to be concerned with.

It's my understanding that reptiles get more agitated when shedding. I've never heard it specifically in reference to leos, but I've heard people talk about it with others, so it likely applies to them as well.

Howie had a silkworm and a meal worm this AM. :) I think his previous owner always fed him in the mornings as he seems more interesting in feeding in the early hours that at night. I guess if he's gonna go lay in his warm hide all day right after, it gives him lots of time to digest undisturbed.
