Now, I'm still learning about all these other species of geckos, so forgive the n00b question please. Plus taxonomy is a little confusing for me.

What's the difference between Coleonyx variegatus and Coleonyx variegatus bogerti? Is it a subspecies or something?

Coleonxy variegatus is the species - the Western Banded Gecko. There are several subspecies in the species:

Coleonyx v. abbotti - San Diego Banded Gecko
Coleonyx v. bogerti - Tucson Banded Gecko
Coleonyx v. utahensis - Utah Banded Gecko
Coleonyx v. variegatus - Desert Banded Gecko
