Feeder sizes and keep time?

Hello Everyone!

So I've been using crickets from a local organic farm supply store dusted with Repashy for my 2-3 month leo Yeti and he is growing up beautifully!

I know that a varied diet is best and have been looking into Hornworms, Silkworms, and Phoenix worms. I've read through Elizabeth Freer's Hornworm guide and those are looking to be my first choice, because I've read on here that Silkworms can be very finicky and can die off easily. Also I am very interested in Phoenix worms.

My question is for those of you on here that use these feeders what size would you feel appropriate for a ~5-6in leo and how long do each of the feeders listed above last? I know the Phoenix worms come small, medium, large, and the Hornworms I'm looking at at http://www.mulberryfarms.com/ come in sizes such as 1in etc...

Any input is much appreciated!

How about 1 inch long hornworms for your leo? They will grow some even when kept about 55 F. I feed my leo Cha ~1.5 inch hornworms. She is 9 inches total length and weighs 77 grams. If the hornworms are kept in a picnic cooler and you replace the ice pack 2x per day keeping them in the mid-50s F (and they come with enough food in their shipping container), you'll be able to slow their growth and keep them alive just about one month.

Phoenix worms/calciworms are not a hit with all leos. They also are pretty small with the largest Phoenix worms being about 3/4 inch long. If your Petco does not carry these, order just a trial cup. They are an excellent source of calcium.

Have not yet tried silkworms.
