Keeping the Humidity Up

Any tips at keeping the humidity up in a 18x18x24 exo-terra? Im having a helluva time. I been misting several times and even added a humidifier. I have to run that thing for a bit before it even makes a dent. Next step is to try to cover a bit of the top. Frustrating cause I never had this issue before. Thanks for any tips.

is there heat? this will suck moisture.

is there a thick groundcover of plants? that helps retain moisture.

can you please give more detail?

No, no heat these are for Uroplatus and not using ground cover either. Have some live plants in there. Temp during the day is between 72-76 and in the evening goes down to about 67-70 give or take. Was misting once a at night cause in their old enclosure this was all that was needed. Been misting twice a day since setting this one up. thx

weird. i have not had any humidity issues with the exos, though there's more circulation than a normal tank.

a misting system works great... I use exo-terra's monsoon in a 24x18x24 exo-terra glass viv.... pothos, bamboo, and a ficus help as well... the monsoon is programmable also, all I've done for the past year is add store bought r/o water... 0.88 cents per gallon, which lasts about a week and a half depending on frequency and duration of the misting...

I have the exact same tank, i keep the humidity at 60% by running a reptifogger on the lowest level 24/7, trying to keep it that high by misting is near impossible

Get a piece of glass and cut it to fit the top of the tank but cut it short by 2inches or so for ventilation ad put it over the screen top. It helps a bunch.

I programmed my monsoon to mist about every 7 hours for about 25 seconds and it keeps the humidity at about 65%. The controls are simple dials so you never know exactly how long it mists or how long the intervals are.... but except for a small problem with clogging because I didn't replace the filter when I should, it's worked like a charms for almost two years now.

Do you have a fan or AC running in the room your vivarium is in 24/7 or just alot? This will kill your humidity very rapidly

Even if you misted your tank to be sopping wet it would dry out within an hour or two.

Right now im dealing with the same problem, and I've placed a piece of glass over the top of the cage, it does very well on maintaining the humidity, although im still not sure on how safe it is for the oxygen levels

As long as you leave a gap, I have the Zoo Meds and I had the glass cut so that its flush with the back of the tank to the clips on the screen top so theres a good 2-3 inch gap. Also on the ZooMeds and I believe the Eco's there a vent in the front of the tank below the doors. The oxygen level will be fine, I've had mine set like this since April, I recently began removing the glad in the morning and replacing at night since I mist heavy at night it'll help hold the humidity in and then let it dry out during the day after a light morning mist.
