It was weigh in day today, I have a digital scale which is suposed to weight from 0.1 up to 650 grames (is suposed to be for jewelery), and since I got 2 new geckos I wanted to weigh them, and took the chance to do it with a couple more of mine but the results don't seem right.... I will post a picture witht he supposed weight of every animal, I am thinking my scale is wrong, they all seem fat and happy but the numbers just don't fit... I checked everything at least twice... here it goes:

HERSHEY, she is a Bell albino, just got her, about 6 years old, I was even thinking she might need to loose a little weight... the scale indicates she is 40.80 grames, this is she:

BIONDI, she is a Tremper albino, 3 years old, has been mine since she was a hatchling in 2.010, according to the scale she is 35.30 grames, here is the picture:

UNNAMED, MALE This guy I just got along with Hershey, he doesn't have a name yet, he is a male, aprox 6 years old, he is some sort of Tangerine, or High Yellow, striped, he is suposed to be 46.20 grames, picture:

RAMONCITA, this is my 3 legged rescue, 2 years old, mine since hatchling in july 2.011, she is a Sunglow, has only 3 legs, she has always been kind of funny looking because her body is not fat but her tail is, weight> 26.50 grames, here you can see her:

And last but not least, KWANYA , female, 2 years old, has been with me for a few months, she has a nice Halloween mask pattern, the scale indicates she is 35.40 grames, I got her a few months back and she was thinner, I am working on putting weight into her, slowly and healthy, her tail has deffinitely gotten thicker:

All the pictures were taken today, all of them are healthy and husbandry needs are met, I am thinking either my scale os wrong, or I have some sort of new dwarf line of leos  what do you think?

Could she be wrong due to batteries?? I thought they died, I am going to check, actually I have never put her new batteries

my scale gets wonky when the batteries are going out. that's how I know it's time to replace them. I also occasionally weigh something of known amount to check.

Something of a known weight! How didn't I think about that!! Done, weighed 50 mls of water in a 16 grames cup and it said 48 grames!! Si, it has to be wrong!!! I'll either have to get new batteries or a new scale!!

I also like to make sure my temp gun is properly calibrated :) your measurement's only as good as the tool you're measuring with.

I bring it into my lab and use heated water, and compare with known working thermometers :)

you can also check using the same method against a kitchen thermometer, but then it's all relative and you have to accept that you may be off by several degrees. usually that's close enough, but not always.
