My young female just laid two soft eggs..

A strange thing just happened. My 6.5 months old p.grandis just laid two soft "eggs". But she didn't even try to hide them, she just let them stick to the outside of a bamboo stick and a few minutes later she got back and ate them. The thing is that I have another, older female in the same enclosure (no male, he's waiting in another tank) and she just laid two well calcified eggs.. Is this normal behavior for a young female??

That is perfectly normal. She just laid two infertile eggs and is consuming them for their nutrients (calcium, etc.) I would not keep two females together of this species. Has the older female been with the male? I have had juvenile and unpaired females lay infertile eggs that were well formed.

Thanks for your reply!
I think you are right about not having two females together.. a male and a female can be complicated enough.. I'm sure it's possible to have two females with a male, but I don't want to try it myself. The older female is now 12 months old and I will introduce the male to her as soon as the young female moves to its new owner. Right now the two females are getting along well though.
