Nephrurus Small Rack Build (Cheap & Easy)

Hey Everyone,

I found these old pictures on my laptop and thought I'd post them to the forum. I figure that they may be of some help to someone who is looking for a cheap and simple build solution.

These pictures show the build process of my current breeder rack system. It's amateur to say the least and very basic. I have only just started trying to breed my Nephrurus so the rack is quite small. It just holds two 32qt tubs and the dimensions are 24''w x 24''h x 18''d.

Great start!
This year I started utilizing the plastic shelving units from Home Depot, and am slowly transitioning the whole Nephrurus collection over to this type of setup. One unit will accommodate 24 hatchlings, or 16 subadults, or 4 adult pairs, depending on how you configure the shelves and heat tape.
Cheap too, with the whole setup costing less than $125.00.

Very nice build. I built a double rack a few months back for my ball python breeding project but since I started the infatuation with knobbies I think I'll be using it for them instead.DSC00768.jpg

NocturnalNature, out of curiosity, do you have pictures of how you set up the home depot rack? I'm using Vision right now, but am definitely interested in saving money instead of ordering another expensive unit.

Here is a photo of my shortest (both height and length) setup. It was the only one that I could step far enough away from to get the entire thing in the picture.
Currently houses 26 hatchlings, 2 pairs of holdbacks, and 2 pairs of adults.
Edit: the setup in the photo varies slightly from my standard configuration. On my others, I have shortened the supports between each shelf to allow for less dead space between levels, and allow them to be stacked several layers higher within the same vertical space.
