New Crested Gecko, why is my gecko not eating?

So im a new crested gecko owner, ive had my crested gecko for a bout a week now, whenever i try to feed him CGD (every night), he takes a few licks than stops. when i put the bowl in his tank for the night he doesnt touch it. I also put a few crickets in his tank, theyre dusted, but so far he hasnt made an effort to hunt them. so is it because he is still new to his tank? I just need some answers.

Do you have a picture of your setup? What are your temps and humidity, and how are they being measured?

Have you been handling your gecko at all?

About how old/what size is your gecko? Could you post pics of him/her as well?

Generally, it's not unusual for geckos to not eat for up to a week or so after being brought home. They are understandably stressed, and trying to adjust to their environment. However, things such as handling too soon, not providing enough foliage/cover/hides, leaving free-roaming crickets in the enclosure, and not providing proper temps or humidity can all affect how soon or how much a gecko will eat. As well, if it's a baby, it only needs a few licks to be satiated, so you really won't notice based on their food bowl how much/often they eat. You'll need to watch for poop as your indicator.

Thanks for responding, I diffidently have plenty of foliage, he sleeps in it almost all day. As for temps, it is maintained at between 70-80 degrees almost always, if its getting hot in my house and it reads to high, ill turn the heat lamp off. I do have free roaming crickets as of now, and he is a few months old. well that's what the pet store employee said. i also keep the humidity between 50% and 80% at all times. Ill try to upload pictures.

Like Cassie said, this is normal once they are placed in a new enclosure. Put the food dish close to the foliage where they sleep so they feel comfortable and safe. And be sure to look for poop, that's your tell tale sign.

I try and mix in a drop of honey into the CGD for my new borns. It normally gets them used to eating it.
