Interesting vittatus

Hey there all. I was watching an old episode of Croc Hunter (rest in peace to my hero Steve), and noticed something strange. It looks to me like he casually finds the most beautiful vittatus I've ever seen. I don't work with this species and know very little about them, but I feel like I've seen enough of them to think that this one might be special. Anywho, thought I'd share and see if anyone with more experience has any thoughts :)! The gecko is at 7:20.

Does not look too uncommon to me. Probably it was just very hot, than they can turn quite yellowish.

Interesting to hear. I've never seen a picture of such a vividly yellow vittatus before. So even normal vittatus are capable of such brilliant fluorescent yellow under the right conditions?

What do you call normal? There are different shades of brown in normal vittatus, depending on location and/or genetic backgrond of the captive parents. But yes, those with the yellowish hue can turn into the colour seen in the vid.

Yeah--I mean I'm aware of the color-changing ability of a lot of geckos and other reptiles, I just thought on initial look that that vittatus was near fluorescent and I had never seen a picture of a gecko quite like it. Haha, I guess it's not uncommon though for they yellow phase vittatus to fire up like that. I'd love to see another picture of a yellow phase vittatus looking that yellow--you'd think they'd be easier to find! I never knew they could be so brilliant.

Cheers,
-Matt
