So long story short, I have 2 geckos, thought both were female, one was not. Seperated them and now a month later I have eggs. The mom is healthy and doing fine but here is my situation with the eggs, Okay so here is what I did, I couldn't find perlite so I used an organic starter mix that has peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, and an organic wetting agent it in. To put in the tub. I also put the correct amount of water. (.08/1 ratio) I don't have an incubator so I put the tub on top of the heat mat in her cage... Do you think they will be okay?

If the temperature can stay pretty steady during the course of incubation, if the container is sealed and opened every week or so briefly for air exchange (sealing it maintains humidity) then there's a chance the eggs will hatch if they're fertile. There are people who leave the eggs in the tank and let them hatch and other people who have had successfull hatching by keeping the egg containers on top of their water heater. The worst potential problem besides the chance that the eggs just won't hatch is that there will be a temp fluctuation and you'll hatch a baby with deformities (usually notched or absent eyelids or missing toes or leg bones). In all honesty, I have gotten the occasional baby with these problems even using the incubator. Remember, you're likely to get more eggs in 2 weeks, so it never hurts to look into getting an incubator to be prepared. Good luck with them.
