Crickets eating one another?

My crickets must be eating one another because I'm losing them at an astonishing rate. I'm talking 2 or 3 per day. I know they are not escaping. But the odd thing is, I don't see a lot of Cricket bodies, or body parts. Just less crickets. I don't think it's that odd that crickets would eat another dead cricket...or even a smaller one, but 2 or 3 per day? I have plenty of food in there, gut load, water, hides.

Does this happen to everyone?

I don't think crickets eat each other. In fact, I think I read somewhere that when crickets die, they omit a smell that can cause crickets around them to die, too. What do you keep your crickets in? Mine are in a cricket keeper, but I've seen escapees before. I've never seen them do it, but my best theory is that they walk up the feed tubes and bump the lid up somehow, since it's on a hinge. After I put a weight on top of the lid, I haven't lost any crickets.

I have a tupperware container. About the size of a shoe box. It seems like a good size b/c they can't reach the top (which is very secure) and the air holes are too small for them to get out. Sure the odd one could hop out unnoticed when I go to feed, but I can't explain the number of missing crickets.

Also, I never see dead crickets in the container. Generally when I first dump them in, I'll notice a few dead, and remove them...but thats it. Once I get them in the tupperware they seem to thrive because they get noticeably bigger and darker in color.
