Tank upgrade planned

Can I first say thank you to all you lovely people who give up your time helping newbies like myself - you were all great when I had my first setup, and the removal of sand has made life so much easier....but I think now its time to upgrade again

Neo was sold as a Juvenile back in September, so I'm guessing he must be adult by now?? - he has certainly increased in size quite considerably. Neo's existing tank is square and tall (2ft wide x 18" deep), and I have seen from so many posts about the tank needing to have space for the temperature gradients. Although this original tank was anything but cheap - we think Neo is going to need something more suitable for him - but need to make sure we get it right this time. The maximum space available for a new tank would be 36"....would that be sufficient size to accommodate Neo and any additional growth he may have in the future - and are there any other points to consider when purchasing a new tank?

Finally - am I right in that humidity needs to be around 40%?

Thanks again!

most people recommend a 20 Gallon (long) tank. That is 30 Inches long.

If you have 36 inches available, you are good to go.

Some people recommend an enclosure length 4x the total length of a leo. The average size of a mature leo is 9 inches.

Exo Terra makes a 36 x 18 x 12 inch enclosure with front doors which are quite convenient. However, I've been told the actual width is 16 inches. They cost about $200 USD. As long as Neo does not have giant genes, the 36 inches might work for him.

Also consider a wooden enclosure. Check out posts #60 & #63 immediately following my Leo Caresheet for those links.

How about pictures and a total length and weight? Leos reach maturity at about 2 years old, so your guy may be a sub-adult.

Humidity between 40-50%; more in the humid hide.
