First Introduction

I just introduced one of my males to my females. Is it normal for the female to bite the male when he advances on her? It didn't break the skin, it was a "get away" thing. Should I keep them together?

I have only one season experience--I would say it is important to stay close and keep an eye on things--this year I have a large tub for breeding with a wooden "house" that is placed in it--it is open on both ends so I can make sure no one gets hurt--at least until I am confident that they get along.
