could anyone tell me if there is a visible difference between the 2 species madagascariensis and grandis. it was the same species befor, so i do know they are closely related, but since grandis was recognised as a species there must be some kind of difference. been searching alot on the internet, and cannot find any useful info at all

P. grandis is never bluish, the dark stripes from the nose ends by the eyes for P. grandis and goes on with a second one for P. madagascariensis, I think they are quite easy to differentiate just with these two characters, as mkschaefer wrote, there are more attributes of each specimen.

the thing with the stripe stopping by the eyes, is that a sure way to determine weather it is g or m?? os it means that the pic ive posted is grandis right ???phelsuma.jpg

yes it's a sure way and yes I can see a P. grandis on your pic. You can easily recognize the different colouration (no bluish).

I've been considering wild types, I know the "blue line" P. grandis, these are just mutations and in my eyes they shouldn't be breeded at all, but this is another question. I've seen them in realitiy at a show, but they are not really blue without photoshop ;)! P. madagascariensis has a very clear bluish colouring. The blue line of P. grandis is rather darker green with a bluish glimmer if there is enough light.
