Tokay that started 'normal'... now 'dark'

I have had this gecko for a year. She was 6 inches long and very normal looking when I received her. Now, she looks like this all the time (below pics are from 10 PM on Friday night).

Today I will finish this cage so I can pair her up soon -

So, congratulations!!!! You are the Tokay Lotto winner! I'm to understand from a sidebar conversation with a mutual Tokay enthusiast, that you got her from a reseller I do a lot of business with.

I wholesale to them captive bred normals and sometime back, I had several possible hets that I lost the documentation as to who their parents where. At that point I didn't see the need to keep them since they where about a year old and had not started to change yet. So I sold those Tokay to them as well.

That reseller does not get cb Tokay from anyone else and only offers fresh imports. So enjoy your girl.

Because a staff member switched/lost/mislabeled all the normal looking offspring during cleaning, I had no way of knowing what was what and no need to have them hold precious space. After all, my whole goal is to prove out these guys. Lost documentation does not further that cause in any way.

If you breed her, please keep one of her male offspring. You can breed him back to her and you have a chance of producing another one.

Goos luck.

Mike, if you want some progeny back I am sure we can trade. I prefer the normal red and orange polka dots of the garden variety anyway.

I finished the cage for this girl and her potential mate yesterday.

Below is a pic of the new cage (on the right) next to another cage I made a couple of weeks ago for my pair #1.

I put her in and she was not happy - but with all of these hides she will surely settle down.

And... poof! She's gone!
