question about tail regeneration

My Leo dropped his tail about 2 months back....he has actually bounced back great, and his tail has regenerated but it's kind of stubby and I want to know if it will ever regain it's full length again?

He dropped it right at the base of the tail. Not in the middle. It's my understanding that his tail will forever be short now and never be as long as it was? Is that correct?

I have googled numerous pics of Leo's with regenerated tails, and it seems the ones that drop them at the base are forever short and stubby, but the ones that drop them in the middle do end up regaining full growth.

I just wanted to ask some of the experts what I should expect here.

Here he is. I call him a "he" but I'm still not sure. 7 months old now. Also, will his tail always be that color?

Not sure about the regen part, but yes, sadly regenerated tails are often not, or possibly never the same coler as the original :.(

I'm curious to know if it will always have that "fresh skin" look to it? I don't mind it at all, just curious. I was thinking maybe with more sheds that it would darken up a bit....I guess I'll find out in due time.

thanks for responding.
