So I have all thos empty space in my leos tank. I want to make a more stimulating area for my leo so she isn't as bored with her enviroment as she looks. Here's the empty space:

You can sculpt a wall with ledges, too. That way you can keep some open space and still have something stimulating. Mine really like climbing it. Just be sure to have the wider ledges towards the bottom, so if they fall, it's not a long drop and so it's easy for them to climb back down. $14 at Jo-Ann fabrics for Sculpey :) Worth it.

Thanks JIMI. Yes, Sculpey is safe as it is :) if you paint it, be sure it is safe to eat on. The paint should say that on the label.

I actually used the beige colored one. I didn't want to paint the white. It is completely safe as long as you follow the directions and don't overbake it :) one downside is that it is porous, so you want to avoid putting it near the food or poop spot to try to avoid the growth of bacteria. As long as it isn't being used as a food or water dish, it should be fine.

For sure. I'm going to try and get creative at making a hide/ climbing thing in The open space I have. Going to be a few weeks before this happens but I'll update on this thread.

Ok that's good. I constantly see people put the moist hide on the wrong side of the tank and it can be really detrimental to your Leo's health. Still need any ideas on decorating?

huh? I had no idea the UTH could be on the wrong side of the tank o_O Why does it matter? As long as one side is hot one is cool? Mine is on the right side, but only because that's where the outlet was closest.

EDIT: Sorry - I didn't realize you were talking about the humid hide on top of the UTH - I thought you meant warm side in general and I was confused lol

Hahahaha, I get what you meant. It's not like putting the UTH on the right side is wrong. But if the humid hide is on the opposite side of the UTH it can cause respiratory issues. Do you have calcium in the tank?

I've seen some cool things done with "crevices" basically stacking slate in a way that looks like a real rock they might crawl under in nature.

I have 2 of those hides^. Love them! I've seen people make underground tunnels to add a level and double the space, kind of like this(hopefully it works):

It seems like a good way to double your surface area. The underground area could be a tunnel of hides (you can include an underground moist hide), and the top that is exposed will have more space to include safe things to climb on (the fun and stimulating area). You can also provide a basking area by placing a tile underneath the heat lamp. Hopefully this makes sense. Just throwing an idea out there:)
