Can diet replace supplementation?

Does anyone know if there is a way to gutload feeders with whole foods to pass all the needed nutrients to leopard geckos? Can D3 be done that way, too? Are there any guidelines for providing leopard geckos with a certain amount of UVB? Has anyone come up with a meal plan for feeders to provide all the necessary calcium and vitamins?

Diet can replace supplementation! It's all about feeding a variety of healthy foods, but sometimes it'd difficult to do this with some reptiles. I attempt to go down this route, but in the end I still supplement very sparingly. This is how I go about it:
I use this as a guide for my feeders: The Iguana Den - Iguana Diet - Grocery Guide
This diet is designed to give iguanas all of their vitamins and nutrients through their diet alone without any additional supplementation. Variety is the way to go. I also alternate it with a dry diet that is packed with nutrients. Unfortunately, the family who makes the feed I am currently using is discontinuing their product, but I am planning to use this next: Kilgour's Chameleons - Cincinnati's Finest Panther Chameleons. It would be a good idea to get and additional feed as well to alternate with. I use Mazuri Hi Calcium Gut Load as my formal gut load once a week. It has vitamin D3 in it: http://www.mazuri.com/product_pdfs/5M38.pdf. Variety is key!
I fill in gaps with minimal supplementation. In my opinion, it's better than playing the guessing game with supplements.
