Fat gecko need help

Hey there my Mac snow is super fat and blooded when I pick her up she feels like she is gonna pop... That being said she isn't as active like she once was and still eating a lot more then before .... She only has coco fiber in her humid hide and ate a jumbo horn warm a month ago and she is pooping... Could it be eggs blockage fat ect she hasn't been in open are with a male heat is dead on perfect image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg she feels like a ballon its been almost 2 weeks going closed to 3 any help advice would be great also I know go to a vet but the only one is 3 hrs away

It took me awhile to find this information to verify what I remembered. According to Elizabeth Freer (aka Mother Gecko) and other internet sources...

All female geckos can develop infertile eggs without mating. Hence, females need a nestbox/warm moist hide in which to lay those eggs. Definitely place dampened moss inside their warm moist hide.

If a female gecko becomes egg-bound, eventually the eggs begin to rot inside. This infection leads to septicemia then death.


Since you already do have the moist hide, make sure there is about 2 inches of moss so that your little girl has a place she feels comfortable laying her eggs.

If the egg is bound up, you will have to take her to the vet to get the egg removed.
