So turns out my girl might actually be a boy....(?)

So I noticed that while my leo Nyx was licking her vent I noticed something pinkish slightly pop out. I wasn't sure if it was a hemipene or not, it didn't seem to pop out from either side.

I took Nyx out of the tank to get a closer look, and wasn't sure what to make of what I saw. I know that both males and female have the pores, but I couldn't tell if Nyx's pores were really all that pronounced, or if she/he was still developing those parts (approaching 10 months of age). What I thought might be the bulge kinda just looks like a fatty flap of skin and wasn't very big.

Anyway's I managed to snag a pic, tell me what you guys think. The more I look, the more I think Nyx is a male. :|

Sorry for the poor quality, this is the best camera I have.

Well...I can't say I'm not disappointed, but mostly in myself. Nyx is my first, and I spent so much time figuring out everything about this gecko, and spent who know's how long picking and epic name that now I'm not sure I wanna use anymore. I kinda feel like I gotta start from scratch.

I know it's not Nyx's fault, and I certainly don't love HIM any less. He's with me till the end.

I had the same thing happen to me only the other way around. At first I thought my girl was a boy, but time passed and I figured out she was a girl and Tango is now just Tang.

The name already stuck, I could bring myself to completely change it. :p Live and learn, I guess.

Yeah I was thinking of switching Nyx's name to Nox, which is the romanized version of Nyx; sounds more masculine to me. Still not entirely sure if I should change it or not.

I should get a hold of my other gecko, Butters, and see if I can tell what his/her gender is. Doubt I will be able to tell though since he/she is only about 6 months.
