Crested Gecko Terrified of Me

So I have come to a conclusion that the crested gecko I got about a week and a half ago is terrified of me. If I try to put my hand in the tank he either does nothing or tries to bite me. If I move my hand fast he freaks out. I brought a stick near him and it took about 10 minutes but he finally walked on it. He traveled about half way up the stick but when I put my hand flat in front of him he stopped walking then gave my hand a few licks then turned around and tried to go back to the terrarium. I put my hand down again and then he pooed on the log. I guess that could be a good thing to because it shows that he is actually eating his CGD but it also looked like he was terrified so I let him jump back into the terrarium. How do I get him used to me if I can't even pick him up? I don't want to force handle him but rather let him choose if he wants to be handled. Should I just put my hand close to him every day until he walks on it? It seems to me that he is comfortable in his new terrarium and knows were everything is. How do I get him to not be scared of me? I want cocoa to feel comfortable with me.

some geckos never do become comfortable with being handled.

I would say, first of all, that he will need you to be patient. you haven't even had him 2 weeks yet. I generally assume at least 2 weeks, and sometimes longer than a month, are needed for a new gecko just to acclimate to his new home. during this period no efforts at all should be made to touch the gecko. he's probably quite stressed out.
