My eyelash crested's diet.

I just got a new eyelash crested gecko. I can not tell if he's eating his repashy powder mix. I haven't seen any droppings but he is small so I might just not see them. I've had him for about a week. I was told by the woman I bought him from that he doesn't eat crickets but I want him to have a variety in his diet. I am using coconut fiber as a substrate and moss in a moist hide. I am hesitant to put crickets in his habitat because I do not want him to eat the moss. Can anyone suggest a way to tell if he is eating and how I should try to feed him crickets?

can you post a pic of his enclosure? cresteds shouldn't need a moist hide on the ground.

One way to contain crickets and to see whether your crestie eats them is to use a hexagonal Lee's betta container as a feeding "dish". I use those for my mature crestie and several other gecko species that I keep.

I tried uploading a photo but the drag and drop wasn't working. I know cresteds don't really use hides on the ground. I put it in there to keep up the humidity. I mist him once or twice a day but I felt like it wasn't enough so I added the hide with moss. He does go in it occasionally. Thank you for the advice on the betta container I'll look into it

Just use the container empty with a bit of cricket food in the bottom. Then add the crickets.

I plant a sansevieria/snake plant in a plastic pot and then place the pot right on top of the cocofiber substrate. Watering this plant after it dries out will help keep up the humidity.
