Okay so my blogs entries have disappeared all of the sudden. I joined somewhere around August I believe and everything is gone now.

Secondly I have a Gold Dust Gecko that I will not be able to take care of during winter break. My winter vacation is two weeks long and I want to assure my gecko does fine without me. I was thinking of buying the feeding rock from exo terra, filling it with crickets before I leave and hope they last for that amount of time. IF THERE are any other BETTER solutions to my situation LET ME KNOW!

I'm not sure what happened with your blogs. I'll look into it.

in the meantime, I see 2 major problems:

1. too many crickets in the tank, and often times the crickets will attack and bite the gecko. also, your crickets will not survive 2 weeks without food themselves.

2. even with a water dish, I'd be very concerned that your gecko won't be misted for two weeks? that could result in some pretty severe dehydration, and possibly illness or even death.

is there no one who lives near you that can take care of the gecko for 2 weeks? perhaps put an ad locally or something? a co-worker, teacher, etc?

I really don't know anyone around me that I can trust to come daily to mist her. Would a be an adequate substitute if I use a type of fog machine to maintain humidity? I keep water bowls in there anyway by the way and with all live plants.

As for crickets I was thinking of leaving some crickets in the ExoTerra feeding rock with food for them inside. Would that work out?

Thank you for the reply!

I don't know. that's a long time with no oversight at all. if I can't find someone I trust to watch my house, I take my geckos elsewhere when I travel. it's up to you, but I would not feel comfortable leaving my gecko that long without someone at least checking a few times.
