Hi everyone

Merry Christmas

My leo Daff was shedding the other day, and I just had to take this photo. I just thought that the way his skin from his head was folded back looked just like Superman's cape.

Say hello to SuperDaff:

Hi mecoat ~

SuperDaff looks great! Cool photo!!! He's come a long ways. :D

What length and weight is he now?

Do I see silver "legs" for your "under" tank heat mat platform above ground? You just gave me an idea.

Hope that you guys had a good Christmas. A happy and healthy 2015 for you both!

Hi Elizabeth

He has grown up to be a big boy now. I don't have a suitable set of scales, so can't weigh him, but I might try to measure him soon.

Yes - I have 2 heat mats. One on the floor at the front of the viv, and another on the bottom of a glass chopping board, which is raised of the floor by metal chutney pots and a few acrylic discs. The chutney pots on their own were too short - Daff liked being under there, but he wasn't able to walk upright, so I added the discs to raise it higher. Still his favourite hide, but I'm less concerned about him being cramped all the time.

He had a great Christmas - tucking into his crickets. I, however, caught flu on Boxing Day and am still unwell!

Feeling better now thanks. I've measured Daff he's approximately 10 inches long now. Big Boy (and a greedy pig to go with it)! :)

Happy New Year, mecoat! Very sorry that it has taken me so long to reply. Glad that you're feeling better.

Just added this thread's link to :) post #60 where I've combined Hilde's, Aliza's, and your ideas for inside heat mats.

10 inches is a good sized leo! Daff sounds like a "SuperDaff" indeed!

Is one heat mat sitting right on the floor?

Hi

Yes, I have one heat mat on the floor on the inside that covers about 1/3 length and just over 1/2 the width, then I have another the same size taped to the bottom of the glass cutting board (the benefit of these boards is that they're sealed all over in terms of bacteria growth (where a tile is only sealed one side, if at all) and they've got a textured top, so your food doesn't go slip sliding all over the place as you cut, so there's some traction for your leo). The one on the board is then covering the back "half" of the viv and the one on the floor is covering the fron "half" and about 1/3 the length. The've both got seperate thermostats, and are set to slightly different temps, the floor one is slightly higher, and the board is slightly lower.

As I've said previously, Daff LOVES his glass hide, and spends most of his time sitting on the floor in the back corner under the glass, only really coming out for food, or to wash his hands in his water bowl, or change it up a little and try one of the other hides for a bit.

I'll try to get an up to date pic of the viv later, and post so you can see.

Glad I'm helping your are sheet give other options.
