Maybe mouth rot?

Hi! My leo Remy has something weird going on... it sort of looks like he had a piece of ****roach stuck in the side of his mouth but it's been there for about 4 days. This has happened before but went away within 24 hours so I thought it may just be a piece of food but now it's gone on long enough that I'm starting to get concerned. It hasn't effected his eating, at least yet. I've read a bit about mouth rot but I'm not sure if this is it so I'd love some input!

Also, he's not very comfortable with being handled and I try really hard to respect his space so I haven't tried to pull it out or inspect it too closely because I don't want to stress him out. Any ideas on the best way to examine it without him being squirmy and uncomfortable? IMAG0535.jpg

I honestly haven't really been able to look. He's not very comfortable with being handled so our only interactions are when he'll sometimes climb on and over my hand if I lay it down in his enclosure. Any suggestions on how to check without scaring him or getting bit?

So I tried looking at it today and it seems localized to just that one top side of his "lip" (if he had lips!),and it's hard. I felt it but didn't want to try to pull it off or anything unless it's painful. The rest of his mouth looks pink and normal so I wonder if it's a tooth abscess or something?

Sometimes a piece of debris can get caught between the gum and lip. Hold the gecko and see if you can flick it out with a toothpick. If it does not pop out than you may have mouth rot.

The longer it goes untreated the worse it will get, so i would try and pop it out asap.

Best of luck.
