Shedding Problem

Hey guys. I posted a thread of Aileron yesterday and he's having a problem when he sheds. He always has stuck shed on the bottom of his feet, it also sometimes gets stuck on the tip of his tail on the bottom. I can understand the foot he has only 3 feet on, but the others confuse me. It's stressful to both me and Aileron when I have to help him remove the excess shed.
He gets heavily misted at night and a medium mist in the morning as humidity is really low here in the winter. So he should have enough humidity to shed easily.
I've also noticed that he can't cling to things very easily any more either. skin and clothes aren't easy for him to climb anymore either. Any idea what could be going wrong? He gets saunas when he has the shed problem so I'm a little concerned for him.
Should I add a hum hide to his tank? Would that help and would he use it? This has only started happening in the last 3 months.

Winter is usually the worst time because its a lot less humidity then most months. Like before, I would spray my gecko and leave to school and when I came back it was below 20% so I decided to get an auto mister, but a few non shed related reasons he could be stuck to the cage is that it may have hard water spots on it which make it hard for him to cling on, or he may just like to romp around in his food and it cakes to his feet so he can't stick. Next time you give a sauna, try cleaning the bottom of his feet a little more to see if any food comes off, and next time you clean his cage, use a hard scrub or a soap that is safe for them that can scrub off the hard water spots. Note: saunas are good for them, but don't do them too too often or your gecko might get a skin disease, but that's only if you do it extremely often. He may just have problems shedding his feet, so just see if you can pump up his humidity to see if that helps, but adding a humid hide as well is good. If you can post a pic of the setup that may help :) gl with your gecko

Thanks guys.
Any good auto misters? I've been trying to find one, but haven't come across any really good ones yet.
He only gets the sauna a few times, it hasn't been very often. I usually use qtips on his feet to get the excess shed off(he hates it after awhile). So his feet are cleaned pretty often and I've never scene any food come off his feet. But that could happen and he gets it off himself.
I'll try and get him to cooperate for a picture next time.

Its good that you're not sauna-ing too much :) and please send a pic, I would love to see him. While doing my research on misters, I found that a lot of them came with re-used or broken parts and it didn't seem worth it, but a good one that I found that I got working and have no complaints with is the Mistking starter system. It does cost a bit, but it comes with everything that you would need to set it up and unless you need to buy more nozzles, you don't need to purchase any additional parts. It comes with a nozzle, all the hookups, a good length of tubing to cut whatever you will need for and still have extra, a motor, and a seconds timer so you can say when you want it to come on during the day and when you want it to go off, and you can set what days you want it to come on with 8 different on-off slots. The only thing you would need to buy is a bucket to put the water in, but that's easily obtainable and shouldn't cost too much. I would suggest still doing your research, but I have not had problems with this system and it works very well

What type of set are you using? Enclosure size? Pics? Live plants? Live plants help tremendously to keep humidity up, look at sansaverias for example. Also the substrate you use matters as well. What type of lighting do you use? I was using a 8.5" flukers dome with a 23w cfl, these gave off just the right amount of heat to help rise humidity. Don't forget though, if your substrate is bone dry it will not help much in holding and releasing heat and humidity once the lights go out.

Alright guys, sorry for the late reply, but life got hectic for a bit.
And I have good news! Aileron shed again 3 days ago and he only had shed left on the underside of his right foot(the 3 toed one) and the others and tail were clear! I am so happy! Though he still hates when I have to get the stuck shed off his foot.
Thanks for the help! I nist him mid day now too, just a little, to keep up the humidity for winter and that seems to help.

To answer a few questions: I have fake plants in the tank right now, but am hoping to upgrade the size of his tank and then then I'll be adding live plants if things go the way I want them to. I had to remove the substrate a month or two ago because I had some white stuff growing on it and right now he's on paper towels. I'll get some new stuff soon though.

Thank you again for the help!
