Lump on Eyeball

Buddah, my 6yr old female, had a fine needle aspiration done on her right eye last yr. It was bulging and the vet determined that her tear duct was closed up, causing fluid build up over time. The vet recommended doing the aspiration to bring the eye back down to normal size, since operating to clear the tear duct would be risky/ near impossible.

The eye did go back down to normal size, but has remained black. The vet assured me it would eventually go back to normal and match the other eye, but it did not. Since Buddah has a great appetite, seems happy, and also seems to be able to perceive motion out of the eye, I let it be.

Within the past week she has developed a hard lump on the eyeball, at the site of the original needle aspiration. I rinsed it with eyewash and made sure her eye was clear of any debris. Still eating, still active, doesn't seem uncomfortable...its just that she now has sort of a nipple on her blacked out eye.
Any thoughts? I put a call in to the vet, but it has not been returned so far.

That protrusion from the upper left eye is what I'm talking about. Its sort of a bubble extending off the main eyeball and is the same black as that aspirated eye. Getting a pic from the front is the best I can do to show it.

It's just odd to me that the aspirated eye would be fine (though dark) for over a year before developing this lump. Like I said, she's peppy as can be and doesn't seem bothered. When she blinks she can still close the eye.

As I said, I tried calling the vet for an appt. and the call has been unreturned. i'm guessing it has something to do with the long weekend.
This is the first time it has happened, so I wouldn't call it recurring exactly. Well...not yet.
Today the bubble on the eye either deflated or popped (wasn't there so not sure), leaving a little flap of tissue where it once was. The overall size and black color of the eye remain the same. I have rinsed it with sterile eyewash. She's a little blinky on that side and i'm guessing the flap is a little irritating. Still eating and still able to see motion out of the eye.
Hoping to get information from the vet as to whether this may become a recurring thing and if there's any treatment to be done. Last time we went for a check up in Dec. the vet who did the aspiration saw the black eye and didn't see to think anything of it then.
