feeding dubias to Leo's

Has anyone had trouble with feeding Dubia's. They get very still and kinda hunker down to where my Leo has trouble getting hold of them. She has some feeding difficulty anyway with strikes and misses. I believe she may have some vision problems. Any suggestions. I have tried hand feeding. She doesn't like that. She can get one if it walks right in front of her. If they get still and hunker down it's like she is not even aware of them.

You can try placing the roaches on their backs. On a smooth surface they struggle to get back up and because of how desperately they squirm around it catches the attention of the leo. My leo doesn't have issues catching moving prey, but there are too many places where they can hide in the enclosure so often times I use this method. It works great for me! Maybe it'd be useful in your situation.

I use a clear glass feeding dish for leo Cha. That confines the feeders and gives a leo more "second" chances to catch them, if necessary. Cha is accustomed to eating this way and comes right over when she hears the bugs or notices me right there.

Keepers say the "hunt" is more natural, but feeding dishes/containers work for Cha and most my other geckos. :)

For Donut, I just hold them with a pair of tongs and he'll grab it right out. Eclair prefers them on the ground but is easily put off by a kick in the face so I hold one of their legs with the tongs and just hold them in place.

It helps if you have tiles or duck brand shelf liner or any substrate/set-up where the dubias cant hide. I use black substrate that camos the Dubias and the LG's still nail them. I have noticed my Adults are less enthused. Hit and a Miss or they will outright ignore them for a couple weeks and then BAM! they are on them like heat seeking missiles, Especially Females.
