Breeding Pair Question

So, I have a pair of cresteds that are both over a year old, and of breeding size. They have mated a couple of times at least, and my female has produced one dud egg so far (last month). I am planning on keeping the female in her original cage, because I do not want to stress her out while she is gravid, and the male will go into a 10 gallon ´bachelor pad.' Because it is her first time breeding, I am going to give her a season off after she has laid all of her eggs, so that her body can rest and her calcium stores can be replenished.

Should I remove the male now, before she has laid any eggs, or after she is done for the season?

I would remove him so that she's not stressed. It only takes one successful mating for the female to produce eggs all season as they retain sperm from the male. Usually, the male is introduced for a few days so they can mate and then they are separated for the rest of the season. Then start over the next season.

Yes, remove him. Keep them separate so she can cool down. Make sure she is eating enough and you're feeding her the right thing such as repashy cgd so her calcium doesn't run low.
