So, I have a pair of cresteds that are both over a year old, and of breeding size. They have mated a couple of times at least, and my female has produced one dud egg so far (last month). I am planning on keeping the female in her original cage, because I do not want to stress her out while she is gravid, and the male will go into a 10 gallon ´bachelor pad.' Because it is her first time breeding, I am going to give her a season off after she has laid all of her eggs, so that her body can rest and her calcium stores can be replenished.
Should I remove the male now, before she has laid any eggs, or after she is done for the season?
