Scooter has been a little shy lately, so I've gone back to just putting my hand in the tank for a couple of minutes and letting her sniff it. I was so excited last night when she actually crawled on my hand! I took this as a symbol that it was okay to pick her up.
I let her crawl around for a while and was feeling pretty good about her stress level and this being a positive experience for both of us, when suddenly I noticed that first the first time she had the dreaded stuck shed on her poor little toe! :yikes:
Anyway, I stuck her in her cardboard shipping box while I looked for a tupperware container that she could soak in. I filled it about half an inch with warm water and put her in. Scooter was NOT a happy camper, and it didn't do much to help the stuck shed. I then put her back in the cardboard shipping box (this lizard is going to start associating that place with "time out") and found a wet Qtip.
I normally don't like to grip Scooter, but I did have to hold her torso place while she squirmed so I could work at the stuck shed off. I felt horrible, I've never seen her squirm so much. But eventually I did get it off. Her toes look maybe a little swollen, but otherwise okay.

I'm pretty sure I can blame the stuck shed on forgetting to mist her moist hide last night, plus having to use a CHE in the winter. I'll continue to monitor regardless.
Scooter proceeded to "sulk" in her cool hide for the rest of the night. I am positive I have now earned Scooter's "World's Worst Mom" award. My boyfriend later told me Scooter should understand that I was only trying to help her. I did try to tell her this, but I couldn't quite get the intonation right when speaking gecko. My bleps are terrible ;-)
I guess there's nothing to do other than monitor for any further stuck shed and slowly get her used to me again. Anyway, just wanted to share because I figured other people on this forum could relate!
