How to clean a leopard gecko tank?

I need to clean my leo glass terrarium. It has a heat mat stuck to it. How would I clean the terrarium? What products should I use? How would I clean the hides, water bowls and decorations?

Are you looking for a deep clean/sterilization between geckos/other animals or a scrub down of your current setup?

If it's a deep clean, I suggest thoroughly spraying the vivarium with a 10% bleach solution. That's 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. Soak the cage furniture in 10% bleach too. Rinse well. Then let off gas for at least 24 hours before adding the occupant.

Otherwise a vinegar and water solution will work well.

If you are moving your current gecko to another tank and want to put a new animal in the old tank, that's what it means.

I'm just cleaning the tank for cleaning's sake and to maintain it, so vinegar and water will be good. Is Zoo Med Wipe Out 1 any good?

Zoo Med Wipeout wipes dry up quickly in the container and leave hard to get out streaks. If you were looking for a deep cleaning of your tank, ex. furniture, substrate, hides, tank floor/ rinse, etc., then you can use a vinegar and water solution. Some say you COULD use a 10% bleach solution, however I would personally not do it myself as though it is only 10%, it still MAY be toxic/ harmful to the animal. Even if you were to rinse it real well with water afterwards, the smell may stay in the tank for up to 3 days. It's like bleaching everything you own in bleach, rinsing it off, and living in a locked up enclosure. That wouldn't feel very good. So, as I mentioned earlier, use s vinegar solution which I believe is 2 parts vinegar to 5 parts water. If you use reptile carpet as your substrate, then wash it with de chlorinated water and dry it outside for approximately 2 hours in bright day light. Be sure to also rinse all of the other supplies in the tank, and dry those outside.
