DIY Crestie tank

I got a harlequin crested gecko Saturday, his name is Harley and he's three years old w/ his tail still. I'm going to make him a terrarium, but i need advise.
my plan is to get a 20 gallon tank and turn it up on its side and make a door, but here's my question. would it be better to have a 24x12x16 with 24 being the height, or a 30x12x12 with 30 being the height? so deeper and shorter or taller and shallower?
I will be getting a female so i will have a breeding pair, which would be better for them? the door will be Plexiglas with a section of mesh for airflow.

I think the 20 long is a better idea because it gives you 6" extra in height and the other gives you only 4" extra in depth.

More height is better and understand that that tank isn't big enough to keep the pair permently. Look at the DIY section for ideas about your tank.
