Going on a field trip to the vet

So I've decided to take Scooter to the vet for a wellness exam tomorrow (stuff about her health is here ). She hasn't been eating much lately. That I had chalked up to breeding season, but lately she also hasn't been pooping and for the last 48 hours has been holed up in her humid hide. I tend to be paranoid about my beloved lizard princess's health, but I haven't taken her to the vet since she came to live with me about 8 months ago so I figured it's not a bad idea regardless.

Scooter was shipped to me in a clear plastic container + cardboard box with ventilation holes. Do I need to do anything else other than add some paper towels to these? Travel time to the vet is only about 20 minutes, but I'd like to make the process as stress-free as possible.

When I used to take Daff to a "sitter" when I went on holiday, I'd keep him in one of his normal hides (that way the smell is his too). This obviously only works if the hide has both a top and bottom and you can cover the access hole to stop sneaky escapes.

Hmm, that's not a bad idea. Her humid hide does have a top and a bottom. As it is she's going to be freaked out, so I'm worried about destroying her sense of safety in that hide?

Didn't seem to bother Daff (apart from his sneaky escape attempts in transit (I blocked the hole with my finger while Mum drove). Didn't stop him squeezing through the gap. Of course he was just going to a holiday home for a week (or back home again) rather than the vets, so I can't comment.

Alternatively, you could put the transport container open and on it's side in the viv for a while to allow her to get used to it's smell, feel and look, and for it to start to smell of her. Just another idea for you.
