mealworms have eaten newspaper...safe for gecko?

Hello,

I recently purchased mealworms for our new gecko and they arrived in a container with cornmeal substrate and newspaper. We kept them in there for about 4-5 days with food (carrots). But, when I transferred them today to their new home and took out the newspaper, I realized they had eaten (or at least nibbled) on the newspaper.

Do you think these mealworms are safe to feed to my gecko?
