Weird Gecko Behavior?

My female crested has always done this weird thing where she hangs upside down into her humid hide (a deli cup filled with moist Eco Earth), with her head completely submerged in dirt and just lays there for minutes on end. Not eating any of the Eco Earth, not licking moisture, just laying there. Has anybody else seen a gecko do this?

I don't think she's trying to get nutrients via eating the Eco Earth since her diet consists of Repashy, the new Pangea with insect formula, and banana/other fruit 1x per month, with bi-monthly calcium supplementation.

Sounds like she's either curious about her substrate and just wants to dig or she wants to dig to lay some duds.
It's not uncommon.

how deep is the dirt? she might want more, if she's digging. even virgin girls will sometimes lay eggs, so if she's at least 20 grams I'd make sure to always have enough dirt for her to lay eggs in.

I actually ended up checking her box the next morning and she had laid two fertile eggs! She was bred over a month ago, but she has always had an odd laying cycle.

Well congrats!!
I've got females laying finally after a slow start to my breeding season.
I hope they grow well for you and hatch out healthy!
