Leopard gecko tumor near vent

Well its a sad day, took my 10+ year old gecko to the vet to find out he has a tumor near his vent and its most likely cancer. So his days are limited  but he had both quantity and quality of life, so I'm happy. But I'm worried about him having troubles pooping. Any ideas that would help him go? I figure il feed him smaller roaches and maybie a warm water soak?

I'm sorry for your pain. Thank you for sharing.

Have you had this leo all his life?

Be sure to keep him hydrated. That means a warm moist hide 24/7 where he can retreat. Keep fresh water in his enclosure always. :)

Yep I got him as a baby when i was 8 years old. He actually had surgery near his eye when he was 5 because of an infection.

Do you think i should start giving him baths up to his belly? Maybe every other day?

Warm soaks ~85*F (a leo's preferred body temperature) can be stressful. I'd wait to see whether he stops pooping as usual. If he's gone a long time with no poops, then try the soaks.

I'm so sorry for you and your lizard...
a warm water soak sounds like a good idea, and give him softer foods, like waxworms (obviously limit them), earthworms, and other live foods with softer exoskeletons so that they're easier to digest. Keep him hydrated and keep whichever hide you make moist for when he sheds humid as much as you can.

Sorry for the diagnosis,I myself had to deal with a RI from my Leo 5 months ago & was told by the vet himself to put her down, and I was close to doing so but I didn't give up and she's alive & cured. But because of that experience it makes me want to love my Leo even more. 10 years is good in my opinion although some vary. enjoy your Leos days the best possible way you can, good luck!
