Gecko always hanging out in the humid hide

Hi all! Haven't been around here much, but I did have a question.

Generally speaking, Scooter is doing well - she's eating regularly and her poops look normal. She was a little chunky for a while, but now is about 65 grams.

She's been anti-social lately. A month ago I went on a trip and left her with a friend for several weeks. Given her environment has changed so frequently, it's understandable that she needs her space. My concern is that she's spending most of the time her humid hide. Unless I bring out food or she needs to poop, she'll hole up in there all night (or at least while I'm awake and watching!)

She's in a 20 gallon long tank with a 12 by 8 UTH, with tile as the substrate. The humid hide is the center one. It's on an area covered by the UTH, but there's some space between the bottom of the UTH and the tile. The temperature in there is only about 76 degrees. I also put sphagnum moss in that hide to help with moisture. I live in a small studio apartment, so unfortunately when I'm home at night lights are on (although I do keep them pointed away from her cage).

Scooter has been eating and pooping regularly - she'll come out when it's food time (although she'll go back into her humid hide soon afterward), and I do see her spending time in the warm hide (the one on the right) when she needs to digest.

What I'm wondering is...do I need to change anything? Assuming she's still eating and her poop looks fine, is there anything wrong with spending so much time in a 76 degree hide? I'd like to see her come out more, but maybe she needs to feel "safe."

Thanks as always!

It's not unusual for a gecko to spend lots of time the humid hide; some really like the humidity. If you're worried about her being too cold, see what happens if you move the hide to the warm side. Make sure first that the warm side isn't too warm (low 90'sF max), which is a reason some geckos avoid it.

Thanks as always, Aliza - glad to hear this isn't necessarily a sign of ill health. I had the temperature probe at 93 for the warm side and just now changed it to 91 - I'll see if that helps.
