Scared/Skittish juvenile, What to do?

Recently picked up my male 6 mo old Leopard gecko from a person who was too busy to take care of him.

I was about to take him out of his box to relocate him into his new home but he looked very stressed and was very skittish. I didn't want to handle him because he looked really scared so I just put the box in his terrarium and let him go out on his own. He's sleeping very calmly now but what should I do to tame him?

Give him a week or so to get used to his new environment. During this time, talk to him so he gets used to your voice and let him see your hands as you feed him and provide water. After that, you can try scooping him up from the bottom and make a little cave for him in your hand. In all honesty, some geckos never enjoy being handled, including some I've hatched in my house.

Like Aliza said, give him some time to settle in. After, you could also try hand feeding him a cricket or something so he can associate you with good things (food!;-)).
