So, we have a lamp that clamps on, but the screen will not fit on the tank without taking the heat lamp off:cry:. So we know it cant climb glass (no prob) but we need sticks for i to climb on for excersize! How to do without it escaping? Plz help! (thx)

Welcome to GU! Leopard geckos are terrestrial, so they don't really need to climb anything, though some will. They are also very lazy, so I can't promise that they will exercise. It's best to have some low items for them to walk on or climb over, items that don't reach up to the top. I can't exactly figure out what you're describing with the heat lamp. Where are you clamping it? Can you just set it on top of the cage? If you have a cage cover that's all one piece, you may do better with one that's hinged in the middle so you can lift up part of the cover as needed. In reality, you don't need a light at all with a leopard gecko; hopefully you are using an under tank heater and not just a heat lamp. In general, it's crucial to keep the enclosure covered because unwanted people and animals can get in, and leopard geckos can sometimes get out even though it seems that it would be impossible (happened to my first gecko and i still don't know how she got out).

OK, our situation is weird, I understand! It's just that our lamp has a clamp, and clamps on, but I totally understand what you mean now about just setting it on. We set it on and propped it up a bit so that it only shined on half of the cage. Should the light be shining on the whole cage? Or just the warm side?

Well, I really think that the heat for the leopard gecko should come from below (under tank heater) not from above. If for some reason you really need it to come from above, shine it on the warm side. If you have adequate heat coming from below, then consider doing away with the light, or let it shine in the middle.
