A guy with funny looking frogs

I used this title for my Dendroboard post and liked it.....so there.

It has been a little over a week since I received my little guys. It has been an interesting week. I purchased them with the request of a male and female, not being certain that was what I would receive. Eggs appeared two days later.....a pretty good indicator that one was female :). The more robust, bright green one has visible femoral pores.....BINGO!!!!

After a period of adjustment, both have settled into their own territories within an 18x18x24 planted exoterra. They are beginning to exhibit their individual characters; he constantly is on display and prefers pangea or fruit, she is more subdued in color and hunts insects often. I was initially concerned that he was chasing her often and was stressing her out, I now believe that is more related to courting behavior and establishment of territory. I got wiser and set up a separate pangea cup in her territory, which coincidentally attracts fruit flies....double bonus!! She is definitely putting on weight and her tail is beginning to get some meat on it. He is much more skittish, hiding at every pin drop. She is much more tolerant. I attempted to feed her a fly with forceps, the fly got loose just as she took note, she immediately chased it down. I have no doubt that she could be hand fed, if necessary.

I have left the eggs as she laid them for now, I plan on transferring them to another terrarium when the potential hatching is more imminent.....Is this a good plan or is it better to transfer them now??

I can't tell you much about the breeding part, but I saw some interesting behavior when I got a pair of juvenile female gold dust day geckos. Initially the larger female was chasing the smaller one and I got worried about it, especially since the smaller one kept getting chased out of the basking area. I contacted the breeder who pointed out that they may need time to establish their pecking order and territory in their new environment. He was right and the two of them have settled in very well together and are sharing the basking area.

Mine have both established separate basking areas, It amuses me somewhat that after all the effort that was exercised to provide nice areas to bask, he basks on a cutout area on a cheap foam exoterra background and she chose the top of the computer fan

I have been feeding a variety of foods for the pair. I feed them pangea diet every other day. The rest of the time I have fed dusted, gut fed crickets. I also have fresh fruit available daily and flies as they piss me of during the day. The thought has occurred to me that just maybe....I am stuffing my lizards :?. Yesterday I decided to rein myself in and fed them a batch of fruit flies instead of crickets or house flies. It took a while but the female has figured it out and is frequenting the area where the fruit flies hang out. The male still has not figured it out. Good thing he is handsome.
