I posted about my Leo's behavior awhile ago on this thread. Her stomach got bigger, blue spots on stomach. Just acting not herself In general. I couldnt tell if she was impacted so I left her alone like Zux (a member) said. Today she was out in the light, (another odd behavior for her) and I saw this large wierd looking thing in the corner. She just pooped this out and I have no clue as if she got rid of the impaction or if something else is going on. PLS HELP!!! (I believe she was impacted and having a hard time pushing this out and she finally did. I think shes over the impaction but I could be wrong.) Once in awhile when she is Chasing crickets, she occasionally gets eco earth in earth mouth. She is good about spitting it out, but sometimes may eat it. Could the eco earth have built up and caused an impaction? I do have a good ampunt of exo earth in her cage. Should i take some out if this is the case?

Welcome back, sorry you are having some more issues!

When was her last poop before this one? I can't really tell what the brown thing is. Try dissecting it, maybe it just is ecoearth. If she is eating and pooping still then you are probably okay.

On any loose substrate there is the chance of impaction, it is a matter of opinion if you would like her on a loose substrate. I don't know if she was impacted but you can choose whether or not to keep the eco earth in the tank. If it was just eco earth she finally passed, there is nothing more to do besides deciding wether to keep it in.

If you are worried, you can try a bath, though I understand you mentioned that it would be difficult. Eating after this ordeal and having normal poops is important. There is always a vet visit to be safe.

Is behavior more normal now?

Good luck!

She was still eating and her last poop was 2 days ago, but it look like a ball rather than an oval Like it should be. She was still eating. She either regurgitated it or pooped it out. It does look a bit like eco earth/moss. Also is it true that if theyr'e impacted then they cant poop. If so did she realize she can't push it out and just decided to regurgitate it out? Idk If they can decide lol.

I disected it and it appears to be moss with little eco earth from her moist hide. What should I do? This never has happened to anybody that i looked up.

If leos are totally impacted THEN they can't pass feces. Does her belly feel hard or firm?

I'd replace her moist hide substrate with paper towels or sphagnum moss (by itself). There's a chance those can be eaten as well.

May I ask her supplement schedule, exact products, and frequency?

Try
  • Soak your leo in warm (~86*F) water 1x per day
  • Gently massage her belly in a throat-to-vent direction
  • Apply cat lax to her lips 1x per day
  • Only feed her something without any fiber like Oxbow's Carnivore Care or Gerber's turkey baby food until the impaction has totally passed. Don't make the impaction worse by adding additional fiber to her diet!
