How to best offer dubia to a first time live food eater?

I just got a small shippment of Dubia roaches for my two crested. Both are about 15-18 gram and 10 months old. They have been on Repashy and Pangea until now, but since most seem to agree they need some insects, I figured I would try Dubia.

I dont handle mine much, I can have them on my hand no problem, but they are not very used to it. I'm worried they will be stressed out if I take them out of the terrarium and try to feed them with a tong, og place them in a small box with just the Dubia. Is it stupid to just trow in 1 or 2 small dubia into the terrarium and hope nature takes it there?

Hey!

Depending on the enclosure and the contents, the gecko may never actually find the dubia roaches, especially if you have a loose substrate or a tank with a ton of foilage.

I would put a little container the dubia cannot get out of and either set it where the pangea normally goes or at the bottom of the tank during the evening. The hope is that they hunt and eat it during the night. If that doesn't work you can try to tong feed in the tank. Some cresties just won't eat insects, I know mine love them!

a short plastic deli cup is the easiest. plastic in case they detonate on the roaches, lol. throw a small amount of calcium dust in there too and it's a win-win.

the plastic container is the way to go i use to use a dedicated food container as dubais dnt climb smooth surface there perfect my little guy used to get in the dish among them and have his buffet
