Question about hot side.

I just put sand underneath the tile in my tank to help distribute heat better. The temp on the hot side is currently sitting at 90.4F but it continues fluctuating up and down. It goes from 90.0F up to 92.5F. should it be fluctuating so much? it literally just continues to go up and down without stopping. Is that normal or should i be concerned?

Yes, minor fluctiations are normal, they should be within 3°F however, so yours are perfect!

Do you use a thermostat and thermometer? If you do not use a thermostat your UTH will continuosly fluctuate more than normal levels with a thermostat and temps could be far too high or low.

Monitor the thermostat's readings with the probe of a reliable digital thermometer. If the thermostat's readings differ from the thermometer's readings, believe the thermometer.

I set my Jump Start thermostat at 91*F.
