Charcoal Smell in Vivarium

Hello everyone. I've begun to notice a somewhat strong charcoal smell coming from my vivarium when I open the doors(it goes away pretty quickly after I open it up). I think it might be from the charcoal I added when I put in my springtails. Anyways, just wondering if this is normal/safe. I just want to be on the safe side as I am new to crested geckos. I'm also looking to order my Crestie soon, I think I will use the $50 handpicked gecko deal from Pangea but I'm a little worried about it being too young for my 18x18x24 exo terra. I contacted them and they said they could send something a little older than they normally do( 10-12 weeks old is normal so I'm guessing a 14 or 15 week old). Thanks in advance for any replies!:D

Well, I guess if you put charcoal in the enclosure it's going to smell like charcoal. I don't think it will harm anything. Maybe the smell will fade with time. Either remove the charcoal or get used to it, I guess. You may want to consider a 5 or 10 gallon tank as an initial home for a new, small crestie. On the other hand, I put my now 11 year old crestie into a 12x12x18 when he was just a month old and he was fine.
