Leopard Gecko Terrarium

Hey everyone! I have a 30x12x12 inch terrarium I'll be using for a young Leopard Gecko. The tank seems really big. Would it be too large for a baby/juvenile Leo? If so can I shorten it using wood or plastic? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Your 30 x 12 x 12 inch terrarium is definitely a great size for one hatchling/juvie. :)

Use a heat mat that's 1/2 the size of the bottom: 11 x 17 inches. Ultratherm and Fluker's make this size heat mat. The more warm floor you provide, the more active your young leo will be.

By the time you add a warm MOIST hide, a warm DRY hide, and a cool DRY hide it's all "filled up".

Here's my leo's 30 x 12 x 12:
