Gecko stopped eating crickets

We have had our Leopard Gecko for about 3 weeks. It is a decent sized juvenile about 5 inches long, maybe a little longer, and after a settle in period was eating about 10 crickets every night, along with the 10 meal worms we were leaving in the bowl. Now, he/she is only eating 3-4 crickets, then refusing any more. We have upped the number of meal worms we are leaving out to 20, and he/she is eating all of those by morning. Are we over/ under feeding or does he/she just prefer meal worms?

Sounds normal to me. My littel one eats 3 to 4 crickets for dinner. One night I'll do 4 silkworms and Roch. I prefer knot stuff mine. Her stomach is small, she's about 5 inches. Mine eats daily, sometimes snack in morning, like silkworm, then at night few more varieties I pick. I try keep up with what I gave her day before.
Around shedding time, mine don't eat, stay themselves. I think it goes like 2 per every inch of gecko. Depending on how big whatever they going eat is to. You can feed them whatever they can eat in 15 mints is another way.

I think what you feeding could stretch for 2 days. I don't leave any food out. It's eat in time we have or wait try tomorrow. Reptile doesn't need need daily feedings. It's good while there young. It looks like it's walking away on 3 to 4 crickets, that's were I'd stop for day.

Cut out the mealies and offer him just crickets if he eats them. You can throw in some mealies about once a week. They are good for variety, but crickets are nutritionaly much more valuable. Try to get some roaches too, some geckos love them.

I have a gecko who is similar....when she was a baby / juvenile she would eat mealworms, crickets, and hornworms. With age, she's become a mealworm glutton. About 6 months ago, I started using Flukers Orange Cube cricket food (to supplement the collard greens I give them)...and sure enough, she has taken to eating Crickets again. Sometimes she'll only take 2-3, and sometimes I can get her to eat 7-9 Crickets in one shot. I still offer her mealworms as well...but she's definitely come around on the Crickets,.

Of course, I have another Leo who went off crickets around your Leo's age because she was no longer interested in the small crickets, and only would eat the big ones...so you could try that as well. To this day she's still a cricket killer and won't even look at a mealworm.

Here's a good feeder nutrition chart. It represents combined efforts by Mark Finke, PhD and DubiaRoaches.com.
