How to clean reptile hide?

Hi all,

My leopard gecko has been pooping in the same spot since I got him (I know it's normal). Unfortunately for me, that spot is on top of a hide that had artificial leaves with small cracks. The poop gets stuck in the cracks, and even though I try to clean it, it still kind of stinks up the room. To clean his cage and it's accessories, I use the Zoo Med WIPE OUT 1, because I'm not sure what else can be used since reptiles are so sensitive to toxins and chemicals.

If anyone can give me some tips on how to clean the cage materials and what you use personally to clean your reptile's cage and whatnot, that would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have one of those half log bark hides in his cage. How do I clean that because I assume that water would ruin it since it is wood.

Try this: spray it with hydrogen peroxide and pat dry after about 30 seconds. Then spray it with vinegar and pat dry after about 30 seconds. Also, consider getting a non-wood hide as a replacement so it's easier to clean!
